Curt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 acura mdx- Video
Today in our 2016 Acura MDX we're going to be test fitting the CURT 4-bike platform rack, part number C18086. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now the first and most prominent feature about this bike rack is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with all the bikes attached. To do that you'll come up to the front here and you'll see that there's two pins and clips on the inside. You're going to remove those and then it will be able to tilt. So lift up just a little bit, remove the larger pin and do the same with the smaller, let it tilt away. And with that, you now have full access to our rear hatch to get whatever we need and plenty of space on either side to do so, thanks to the distance between the bumper and the bike rack itself. more

We're first going to show you one of the key features of this rack. We're going to come back here to our conveniently located handle and squeeze that together. We can tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle with our bikes fully loaded, and we are going to gain full access into our back hatch area to get anything in or out that we may need. We've got plenty of room to stand in between our vehicle and our bike rack, and we can grab out larger or smaller items. more

Today on our 2011 Acura MDX, we're doing a test fit of the Yakima Holdup Platform-style Two-bike Rack. That part number is Y02443. With our bike installed, I'm first going to show you one of the key features of this rack. If we grab here at the back and then pull out on our red pin, we're able to tilt that away from our vehicle, and we're going to gain full access into our back hatch area to get anything in or out that we may need. You may notice it comes a little close to our handlebars. We've got a couple inches here. more

Today on our 2016 Acura MDX we're doing a test fit of the RockyMount SplitRail platform style bike rack. That part number is RKY1140. We already have our bike secured down. We're first going to show you one of the main features of this rack. We're going to come to the back here and pull out on the level at the very bottom and we're able to tilt our rack away from our vehicle with our bikes fully loaded. What's great about this, especially since we have this automatic door, is that we're going to be able to gain full access into our back hatch area to get anything in or out that we may need. Since we do have that automatic door, we're not going to have to worry about making contact with our bike at all. more

Today on our 2015 Acura MDX, we'll be doing a test fit on the RockyMounts SplitRail Platform Style 2-Bike Rack. That's part number RKY1140. I've already got it loaded up on the MDX just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to secure our bikes. It actually secures our bikes in 2 spots. We have this large frame hook going over our front wheel putting down pressure into our front wheel cradle, keeping that in place. Then, a rear wheel strap going over our wheel making sure that are our wheel does not come out from the tray. All in all, there is no frame contact with this bike rack. One of its best features, though, is that it has the ability to tilt away from our vehicle with bikes loaded, so we can gain access to our rear hatch. more

Today on this 2011 Acura MDX, we're going to be test-fitting the Saris Bones 2-Bike Rack, part number SA882. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How it attaches to the rack, you're going to have 3 points of contact with your bike's frame. We're going to have 2 straps up top here and one off to the side which is going to act as an anti-sway strap to keep it from hitting onto the bike rack or the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. To do that, just push down on this little tab here and then just pull it out. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Acura MDX- Video
Today on our 2016 Acura MDX, we're going to be test fitting the Thule T2 Pro 4 bike platform style rack, part number TH9034-36. Now we have a bike loaded up on our rack as you can see. It's going to attach at 2 points the tire in the front and across the rim at the back. It's not going to make any attachment to our frame therefore we're not going to harm our frame rails. Now one nice thing about this rack is once it has bikes on it you can tilt it down simply squeezing in on this gray release and you're going to let it down and that will allow us access to the back of our hatch. Now if you've got everything out of your hatch close it back up. Now you want to keep in mind if you have 4 bikes on here you definitely want to grab with 2 hands and you're going to lift it back up into position, listen for that snap and that's going to let you know that it is locked in position. Now we can go ahead and take our bike off. more

Today on our 2016 Acura MDX we'll be doing a test fit of the Thule Vertex Swinging 4 bike rack. That's part number TH9031XT. I've already got it loaded up on the MDX just to give you a good idea of what it looks like. It secures our bike in 3 spots. We have 2 straps for our top tube, and then for our seat post tube, we've got our anti-sway cradle and our anti-sway strap. It's going to help prevent a lot of the sway in the bike while we're on the road as well as prevent bike to bike contact, and bike to vehicle contact. One of the main features about this bike rack is it has the ability to swing out so we can gain access to our rear hatch. more

Today, in our 2016 Acura MDX we'll be doing a test for the softride element parallelogram that's part number SR-26248. I've already got it loaded up on the MDX just to give you a good idea of what it's going to look like. It secures our bike in two spots we have these two straps going over our top two securing it in place. One of the greatest features about this bike rack is that it's one of the very few bike racks that we carry that actually tilts out away from the vehicle with the bike loaded. We'll come over here to this black t-pin, and we'll just pull it out. Once we pull it out, we can rotate it down so we can get into our rear hatch. You can see once we have 4 bikes on there we'll still be able to tilt it up, remove any cargo gear, groceries and anything we might have with us on our trip. more

Today on our 2016 Acura MDX. We're doing a test fit of the Tuly Parkway 4 hanging style 4 bike rack. That part number is TH956. Now we already have our bike secured down, first we are going to go over how we do that and then we will go over some features of the rack. We have two cradles in place, with two straps on our frame. This also comes with a strap that you can use to secure your bike a little better or you can purchase some anti sway straps as well. We are going to lift up on those straps and pull our bike straight off and set it off to the side. Then we will reconnect our straps here and we can take a few measurements. more

Today on our 2012 Acura MDX we will be doing a test fit of the Thule Vertex 4 bike rack, part number TH9029XT. You see that we already have the bike on the bike rack and on our vehicle. Lets show you a few features, the way the bike is hold up, we have three straps, we have two on the top and one on the side. Now how will we do this We will go backwards, taking the top off first and anti sway strap on the side, sorry about that. Now when you are loading it up you would do the opposite way. You want to always remember to replace your straps so they don't get damaged or lost, so lets do that. All right now I like to take a few measurements. The first measurement I like to take will be from the bumper closer to our bike racks and I'm looking at approximately 4 inches over all, I'm looking at approximately 38 inches. more

Today on our 2012 Acura MDX we'll be doing a test fit of the Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack, part number TH912XTR. It is equipped for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. We already have the bike on the racks and onto our vehicle. Let's show you a few features. How the bike is mounted on, we have the three straps, two on top and a strap to the side, which is the anti-sway strap. How we do it is pull off the top ones first, and then on to the side strap. When you're loading the bike, you just do it in the reverse way. more

Now, as you can see, we already have our bike on our rack, but first, I'm going to show you how it is strapped down. We got two wheel hooks. One in the back and one in the front. Those just ratchet down using just a little bit of force and it'll slowly move down. Also in the back here, we've got a strap holding in that tire. more

Saris Bike Porter Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Acura TLX- Video
Today on our 2015 Acura TLX, we're going to be doing a test of the Saris bike porter. This is a folding and tilting four-bike rack. They designed it so we can use it with an inch-and-a-quarter hitch like we've got here today, our class one, or up to the two-inch hitches that you find with like your class three or class four. This is part number SA4404B. Nice adaptable rack. Now, because we are using in a class one hitch, we're going to limit this to just a two-bike capacity, but it's nice that it's adaptable. more

Today on our 2015 Acura TLX we're doing a test fit on the Saris Freedom Superclamp. This is a platform-style 2-bike rack. They've designed it so we can use it with an 1-1/4" or with 2" hitches. The part number on it is SA4025B. Now the Superclamp is a very nice, secure back rack even for a platform-style, one of the tighter feeling ones that's out there. It holds the bike with a front wheel hook and a rear wheel hook. more

Today on our 2015 Acura TLX we're going to be doing a test fit on the Swagman Trailhead. This is our folding and tilting 4-bike rack. It's been designed for use with the 1-1/4" hitch, what we're using it in today, which is a class one, or with the 2" hitches. Now one limitation with the class one hitch: we're going to keep the capacity down to two bikes. We don't want to overstress that class one, but the nice thing about it being adaptable is that we can then go right into our large SUV with a 2" hitch and not have any issues. One pretty distinguishing factor: we're going to have four straps. We've got three frame straps and then one anti-sway cradle strap here at the back to help keep that bike moving forward and back. more

Today on our 2015 Acura TLX, we're doing a test fit on the Thule Vertex. This is a folding and tilting 4 bike rack. It's been designed for use with an 1 1/4 or 2 inch. The part number on it is TH9029XT. Now this is a class 1 hitch on our Acura, we are going to limit the capacity of this just down to two bikes class 2 or 3, you can go ride on out to 4. Makes it a good versatile rack that we can use it on our class 1 hitch and then still be able to switch it over to the larger vehicle and get full capacity out of it. Recent improvement has been lock that's designed to come from the mast of the rack around the frames of our bike and they connect in here at the rear using the Thule one key lock system. more

It's going to be a cable that's going to come around that's going to secure all of our bikes in place so we won't have to worry about them disappearing from our rack. This is a Thule one-key system so that can be set to match any of your other Thule locks or as independent. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Acura RDX TH9029XT- Video
Today on our 2015 Acura RDX we're going to be doing a test fit on the Thule Vertex. Now this is a folding and tilting 4-bike rack. They've designed it so you can use it with an 1-1/4" or with a 2" hitch. The part number on it is TH9029XT. First thing that we notice about the rack is its nice curved arms. This is going to help to keep our bikes separated, and in each position we're going to have an anti-sway cradle. more

Thule Doubletrack Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Acura RDX- Video
Today on our 2013 Acura RDX we'll be test fitting the Thule Double Track platform style 2 bike carrier part number TH990XT. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes, thread our anti rattle bolt though the threaded pinholes and tighten with the wrench. Now let's go over some clearance measurements to see how the bike carrier and this vehicle fit together. There is about 11 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the vehicle to the closest part of the carrier is about 1 inch. With the bike carrier folded up we've added about 9 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. more

Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Acura RDX- Video
Today on our 2013 Acura RDX, we'll be test fitting the Thule Hitching Post Pro Tilting 4-bike Carrier part number TH934XTR. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the threaded pinholes and tighten with a wrench. Now let's go over some clearance measurements to see how the bike carrier and this vehicle fit together. There's about 11 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the vehicle to the closest part of the carrier is about six inches. With the cradle arms folded down, we've added about 16 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. To access the cargo area, we'll pull the pin located at the bottom of the carrier and tilt the carrier down. This will allow you to have access to your cargo door. more

Today on our 2011 Acura MDX, we are going to be test fitting the Thule Vertex, this is a tilting and folding 4 bike style rack. We can use it in 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches. It's part number is TH9029. Now to begin our test fit we are going to slide the shank of the rack right into the receiver tube of our hitch. As we do this, we are going to want to look through the window or the pin hole in the side of the hitch to see when we have our holes lined up. With them lined up there, we'll take our anti rattle bolt, thread that in, and then we'll tighten it down with our wrench. more

SportRack Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2011 Acura MDX- Video
Today on our 2011 Acura MDX we're going to be test fitting the platform-style 4-bike rack from Sport Rack. Its part number is SR2902. Now to begin our test fit we're going to slide the shank of the bike rack right into the receiver tube of our hitch. Now as we do this we want to keep an eye through the pinhole there in the side of the receiver tube to determine when the hole in our rack is lined up with it. With those lined up we're going to take our bolt - it's our anti-rattle bolt - we're going to slide it in. On this particular rack you'll want to slide it in from the right to the left. more

We're going to do our test fit in real time so you can see exactly how long it takes to get your bike loaded up on your vehicle.
